The winning continues in the NBA and NHL yesterday.  Thanks to those who sent kind emails and messages.  I'm glad you're all making money. With a series bet pending on Carolina, I didn't bet them in game 7.  But if you don't have a series bet on them, they are a good bet at +130 or better. NBA Houston -8 vs Utah.  The Rockets have shot poorly in the last 2 games.  Now they are back at home, so I'd anticipate a good shooting night from them.  That's bad news for the Jazz because I don't think they have enough shooters to keep pace.

MLB Houston -185 (Peacock) vs Minnesota (Odorizzi).  Big price here on the Astros, but they have a huge pitching advantage.  They lost yesterday 11-10 after being down a bunch.  With their bats hot, Peacock just needs to be reasonably good and the offense will take care of the rest.

NBA playoffs stay hot with another 2-0 yesterday. Free picks continue to win again yesterday. NHL Boston -145 vs Toronto MLB Cleveland -145 (Kluber) vs Atlanta (Toussaint).  The Braves continue to be over-valued because they fattened up on some early wins against Miami and the Cubs.  But the Braves have an awful pitching staff, so we'll take advantage of a cheap price with the Indians at home.

NBA playoffs won again with a 2-1 day, now 6-2 overall in the playoffs.  All picks documented in the link at the top of the page. Free picks still hot, going 2-0 yesterday and the Islanders winning the series is the first playoff series winner. Champions League Tottenham +1.5 +100 vs Manchester City.   Tottenham is ahead 1-0 so if they score 1, then City needs 3.  Look for Tottenham to play conservatively and wait for a scoring opportunity.  If they score first, City will have to take chances to try and score a bunch, which should let Tottenham score on the counter attack.  NBA Milwaukee -15.5  vs Detroit.  The Pistons just don't have the talent to play with the Bucks. MLB NY Mets +110 (Wheeler) vs Philadelphia (Arrieta).  The Mets were embarrassed yesterday in the first inning.  Look for a more focused team in this game.

NBA playoffs now 4-1.   Another 2 picks today, and you can get them by sending an email or a message on Pickmonitor. Free picks still hot with another winner yesterday, so let's keep it going today: Champions League Barcelona -1.5 +105 vs Manchester United.   This game is really dependent on who scores first.  United needs to score 2 or to win 1-0 in 90 minutes and send the game to overtime, so they will not take any chances if they score first.  But if Barcelona scores first, United will have to come out of their shell and push forward whenever possible.  A wide-open game greatly favors Barcelona.  I think they get on the board early and win 3-0 or 4-1. MLB Houston -150 (McHugh) vs Oakland (Estrada).  Estrada is simply awful.  Houston should score plenty.  If McHugh can get 5 innings without giving up the farm, the Astros bullpen can hold what should be a comfortable lead.

The NHL playoffs may be the most exciting thing left in sports.  The game gets even more physical than the regular season, the refs don't call many penalties, and it's the last sport remaining with a true sudden death overtime.  To win 1st Round Series: NY Islanders +125 vs Pittsburgh Dallas +160 vs Nashville St Louis -115 vs Winnipeg Carolina +125 vs Washington

Free picks are now 11-5.  Today in MLB: Chicago Cubs +105 (Hendricks) vs Milwaukee (Davies).  Hendricks lifetime FIP 3.55, and his worst year was FIP 3.88.  Meanwhile, Davies lifetime FIP 4.03, and his best year was FIP 3.60.  So Davies absolute best year was about equal to Hendrick's worst year.   Also, the Cubs are 3rd in runs scored, behind the Dodgers and Mariners, so we are getting the better offense and the better pitcher at an underdog price.   The public looks at the record of these teams and sees Milwaukee in 1st place and the Cubs with only 2 wins, which is why the books opened Milwaukee as the favorite.  The public would bet Milwaukee in this game no matter what the price was, so why give them a fair price?  Cubs should be -115, so let's take advantage of the line value. 

Free Picks: Premier League: Newcastle United / Crystal Palace over 2.5 +120.   This should be a wide open game with lots of scoring chances.  Only spectacular goal-keeping can keep this from going over. MLB: San Diego +105 (Paddack) vs St Louis (Wacha).  In 15 starts last year, Wacha had an xFIP 4.12.  This year his FIP is 4.79, xFIP 3.41.  Meanwhile, Paddack had a great first start this year, FIP 0.75, xFIP 2.33.  We get a good price here because the public isn't aware of how good the Padres are yet, and the Cardinals are viewed as division contenders even though their pitching in suspect. 

Today's free pick in the Premier League: Liverpool / Southampton under 2.5 +115.     The public always bets Liverpool games over because of all the offensive weapons they have.  But Liverpool plays a Champions League match in 4 days so don't look for them to be highly motivated or give maximum energy in this match against Southampton.  I think Liverpool does just enough to win and saves as much energy as possible for their Champions match.

Today's free pick in MLB: Cleveland -165  (Bauer) vs Toronto (Sanchez).  Sanchez is the worst of the starting pitchers going on Thursday, so look for Cleveland to end their hitting slump.  The Indians may score enough to reach the Over 7 by themselves.  I'd suggest play both bets individually, no parlays.

MLB free pick: Boston -140 (Eovaldi)  vs Oakland (Estrada).  The Red Sox have been shut out in 2 consecutive games.  A great way to get back on track is to face Estrada who is pure cannon fodder.  Look for the Red Sox offense to explode in this one.
